Britax Frontier 85 Combination Booster Car Seat Buyer Quotes

This carseat could save your child’s life!

“Don’t even blink at the price or anything else that really doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of life. We were in a freeway rollover accident yesterday in our Honda Pilot that completely totalled the car. My precious 4 year old daughter was all strapped in tight in this carseat and walked away without even a scratch. As soon as I finish up this review, I am buying another one. Seriously, when you are in an accident like that, won’t you be glad you put your munchkin in the safest seat possible, even if it can be a pain in the neck to install and annoying to get the cover off to clean? Also should note my 22 month old son was in an Evenflo Triumph (also gets high safety ratings). Thank God he was totally fine, but the strap that attaches the carseat to the anchor in the car literally ripped in half horizontally. It is a miracle that he is okay, because I shudder to think he could have been flopping around with only one anchor attached in addition to the over the seat tether..”

Great seat for HWH

“I own several high weight harness seats, and this is my favorite! My son (5 yrs old, 47″, and 43 lbs) has previously been in a Radian XT and a Graco Nautilus. He started to complain about the crotch strap being tight on both seats- I looked at it closer and it turns out the straps were coming out from underneath him even though they were on the furthest setting out- in both seats! We tried the Frontier 85 and he was much more comfortable- he has at least an inch or two until he’ll be up against the crotch strap in the FN 85. I was worried about install, especially after reading about the original Frontier not installing well (or at all) in Toyotas. I had the FN 85 installed with the seatbelt in my ’05 Highlander within 10 minutes, and that includes trying the short belt path first (I had to recline the seat and use the long belt path, but I have a rock solid install.) It really helps to watch the Britax install videos before trying to install it, as I could see how I would have had some trouble if I didn’t watch the video first. The 9 year lifespan of the set is also a huge bonus!”

Safety 1st Alpha Omega Elite Convertible Car Seat Buyer Quotes

BEST seat for the $$$

“This seat is AWESOME. It is sturdy, easy to use, easy to clean, inexpensive, comfortable, long-lasting, and more. I had an older version of this same seat (about two years ago) and bought two of this version–the old one for my hubby’s car and these two for my minivan. My two-year-old LOVES the soft, cushiony seat–she always takes her shoes and socks off to rub her feet on it, and my 6-month-old loves the extra room and freedom of the bigger seat (she got too big for the Graco carrier kind.) The tilt is very easy to use and it installs fast and quickly–with LATCH–I haven’t tried any other method. They fit beautifully into both my hubby’s VW Passat and my Hyundai minivan–we’re both tall and still have plenty of room to have our seats all the way back and these seats installed in both front and rear facing positions. It also cleans easy–straight into the wash and cool-setting dryer.

I hope this helps you with your car-seat purchase decision. I know I was a little overwhelmed by all of the choices and price differences. This seat was $90 with free shipping (from Amazon via BabyAge, I think–got here in two days!!) when I got it. I did go to a local store first to check these out (it was $160 in the store) I found the cheaper seats (Graco, Evenflo) had thinner padding. The more expensive seats (Brittax, etc.) had lots of colors and similar padding to this seat. I don’t really think the kids care that much about the colors–their butts are on them, you know? I like that this fabric seems to hide everything my two-year-old can dish out on it–and then wash easily if it gets stinky. Oh–the other thing I really like about this seat is how easily the straps adjust–I haven’t seen any that are easier–if you look at the picture you’ll see these little red handles at the top–you simply push/pull these and the straps slide up or down–other car seats you have to rethread the things–who has time for that!?! Also, the arm rests are adjustable–I have them up and out of the way for now–when we transition to the booster, I’m sure I’ll bring them down.

Good luck!!
p.s. I’ve read a few of the negative reviews and have some tips–
1. For the ones who couldn’t remove the infant headrest, it is very easy to remove. Unthread the belts from the clip in the rear, thread out through the front and the headrest slides off–then rethread (the instructions are in the back of the book–look under cleaning.)
2. For the tilt–for cars with bucket seats, you will need to use a prop to adjust the front of the seat when rear-facing. You can purchase a $10 adjuster, cut up a $1 swimmers noodle, or roll up a towel–all are safe–and you can ask you car service dept or safety official to help with the install (most local police departments have monthly safety seat checks.)
I still love this seat–I think it is super easy to use.”

Rear facing car seat – you CAN install it rear facing!!!

“Okay….so all of these reviews make it seem impossible to install rear-facing. However, I’m here to tell you it’s not.

First, let me tell you my little story of installation! I first tried installing the Safety 1st Alpha Omega Elite car seat rear-facing in my 2004 Mazda 3 using the LATCH system. I followed the instructions to the letter and also used one regular-size towel rolled up underneath it. I thought I had it in there pretty good, but I asked my husband to take a look to see if he could get it a little tighter since it seemed to move a little side to side. We both agreed that it was a little too loose and there was still quite a bit of open space underneath the car seat, which caused additional wiggle room for the car seat to move. We also couldn’t seem to get the darn thing level AND tight at the same time.

We took a break from my car and my husband starting working on installing the same car seat in his 2003 GMC pickup, again using the LATCH system. (We bought two identical car seats.) He used one towel underneath, but he absolutely couldn’t get it level with the ground and tight at the same time! As he pulled the seat tighter, the seat kept moving up to a sitting position rather than reclined. In fact, he pulled the straps so tight, we couldn’t get the darn thing OUT either! The locking mechanism gets jammed if you pull it too tight. Thank goodness we were able to get the towel out from underneath and we detached the base from the car seat (while it was still installed in the truck), which gave us enough room to unhook the car seat from the pickup’s LATCH hooks.

So, after about an hour or more of messing around with the car seat and cussing up a storm, we decided to take a break and I did a little research online. I found a video on Safety 1st’s website about how to install a rear facing car seat and I also checked out several reviews to see if anyone had advice.

After watching the video, reading the instructions several more times and reading several reviews, I decided to tackle it again. First, ***I removed the base from the car seat*** and used a rolled up bath sheet(a big oversized towel similar to the one used in the video) to put underneath the car seat. The secret is to REMOVE THE BASE!!! It doesn’t affect the safety at all and allows for a MUCH better fit when rear-facing!!! It took me all of 5 minutes to get the car seat secured rear-facing in my Mazda 3. And, the bath towel just basically fills the open space right underneath the lower section of the car seat. The car seat really doesn’t sit on the towel at all. I did it just like the video shows and it is a secure fit. Another secret I learned from another review is to put your knee down in the car seat where the child’s sits and also push straight down hard on the top of the car seat as you pull the straps tight. This will help keep it level with the ground as you’re pulling it tight.

I strongly urge you to watch the video and be patient. It was a heck of a lot easier than I thought originally and all it took was for me to step away for a little while and come back to it. Five minutes, literally, to install this thing without the base attached. Give it a try! This car seat is worth it and is very secure for my 10-month old!

Good luck and best wishes to you!”

The Evenflo Big Kid Booster Seat

has several very important features.  This seat has been side impact tested, it has two cup holders, and armrests that pivot.  The seat back grows with your child.  When the time is right the back can easily be removed.  The Evenflo Big Kid Booster Seat is recommended for children up to 57 inches in height and 30 to 100 lbs in weight.

Evenflo Big Kid Booster Seat Buyer Quotes

Love this seat!

“I went to the store to buy the Graco Turbobooster for my daughter. When the Graco seat turned out to be a higher price than what I expected from my research, I looked at the other seats in the store and noticed that the Evenflo Big Kid seat was on sale for $29.50. The Evenflo had some features that the Graco did not. I’ll summarize what I know of both seats here:

1. Graco TB’s armrests are fixed in place; Evenflo’s rotate up and out of the way

2. Evenflo’s armrests install at 2 different heights, which I love – some seats the armrests are impossibly high or low

3. Graco TB’s cupholders are very shallow; Evenflo’s are deep enough for drinks and supplies

4. Graco TB’s lower price-point seats have no padding at all; Evenflo’s has better padding for an even lower price

5. Graco TB reclines, but I think this is only useful if the seat where you install it actually reclines, as the back of the booster should be flush with the seat. Evenflo’s does not recline.

6. Graco TB’s back and seat do not connect to each other (the back pulls out immediately if you lift the seat). Evenflo’s clicks together and releases easily, but not when you don’t want it to.

7. Graco TB’s seat gets taller by pulling the headrest up from the body, in essence making a long “neck” of the seat. Evenflo’s seat gets taller by pulling the entire body up from the seat. Evenflo’s design makes more sense to me, as in general when a person grows, their head stays relatively the same distance from their shoulders. Graco’s seat, when fully extended, puts the shoulder molding of the seat way below where the child’s actual shoulders would be when sitting in the seat.

Hope this helps in your selection. I was pretty surprised to not come home with the Graco I had researched, but I am very happy with my choice. My daughter loves it too.”

She loves her new “big girl” seat (and we’re pleased too!)

“I bought this for a four-year old who has been begging to move out of her current car seat. She’s a big girl (43″ tall, just over 50 pounds) so I felt she was physically able to handle it.

I picked this seat based on several factors: the overwhelmingly positive reviews on Amazon, the reasonable price point, previous experience with an Evenflo seat, and the cute pattern (I’ll admit it).

The assembly was essentially 4 steps: snapping/attaching the head piece to the back (which took *a lot* of muscle), securing the padded car seat cover over the head piece and back, inserting the arm rests, and attaching the back to the base. From start to finish, about 3 minutes.

The seat is lightweight (easy to get into or out of the car, if needed), sits securely in the backseat of our car, has nicer padding than I had expected at this price point (and nicer than the similarly priced Graco seats we tested), and the pull-handle height adjustment is very simple.

I thought the colors of the seat were prettier in person–a little more vibrant than what the website shows. I uploaded a picture so you can see it installed.

All in all, our girl is *very* pleased with her new big girl seat. We are still working on mastering how to buckle the seatbelt (well, not *us*, but *she* is working on it).

I have no complaints about the design or construction (how rare is that?) and am very pleased with this purchase. Highly recommended, and at this price point it makes an excellent second seat (for a parent, grandparent, etc) if needed.”

Graco My Ride 65 Convertible Car Seat Buyer Quotes

Love this car seat!!!

“I am a new mommy and my son is now 7 months old. He is a pretty big boy and has outgrown the Graco Snugride he’s been in since birth. I spent hours online and in stores looking at options for a convertible car seat and read hundreds of reviews. I have to say I narrowed it down to the Britax Boulevard 70 and the Graco My Ride 65. Going back and forth they both had the same rating and the same pros/cons. I finally decided to go with the Graco because I love their products.

I have to say it was the BEST possible choice! I love this car seat. Yes, it is big but it still fits in the back of my doublecab pickup truck. I know some of the reviews said it was confusing to use and put together. I have to completely disagree. If you’re at all familiar with Graco products moving the straps and hooking it up were EASY! Trust me, I am not at all ‘gear’ savvy and I was able to put this together myself, moving straps to fit my son and getting it set right in the car.

This was another great Graco purchase! I love it and my son loves it!”

Good system

“This seat looks great. It had a ton of great reviews safety wise. It’s pretty big though.

It’s pretty easy to move between different cars. The hooks look cheap, but are much easier to connect/disconnect than the Chicco Cortina travel system this replaced.

2003 Nissan Sentra – It fits in the middle of the back seat. Allows the front seats to move to the front and back. Adults are able to fit on both sides, but I wouldn’t be going on a road trip

2003 Caddy Escalade EXT – I put it in the middle of the back seat. We’ve been on 5+hour tips with 4 adults in the car. I wouldn’t put it behind either of the seats unless one of the front passengers are tiny.”
